Brett S. Carlson is the founder of Eir Partners, a strategic partnership and investment company focused exclusively in the healthcare technology and consumer healthcare marketplace. Since inception in 2015, Eir has completed 25 platform and add-on acquisitions while deploying approximately $3 billion in equity and debt both standalone and through partnership with New Mountain Capital. Eir lead corporate and strategic development for Equian up until the sale to United Healthcare for $3.2 billion in July of 2019 and has completed two other exits. Additionally, Eir Partners was the founding entrepreneurs and investors in the formation of Revint Solutions, a revenue integrity data mining company, in July of 2016 and remains active today. Prior to Eir, Brett was the Chief Executive Officer at iVantage Health Analytics, a leading healthcare data analytics company and spent 9 years as a principal at Great Point Partners, LLC, a health care focused investment firm responsible for their technology investing effort. He is a current Director at Convey Health Solutions, Remedy Partners, Revint Solutions, Caryn Health, Millennia Patient, Acuity Eye Specialists and the Retina Institute of California and a former Director at Citra Health Solutions and Connecture (Nasdaq: CXNR). Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
After spending time on both the investment and operational side of growing healthcare companies, Brett recognized the need for a new brand of investment partnership. This experience in the marketplace led to the launch of Eir.
Mark Broadwater, Associate
Mark Broadwater joined Eir Partners at the beginning of 2016 as an Associate. Previously he was an Analyst at MTS Partners, a boutique healthcare Investment Bank specializing in M&A, capital markets, and royalty monetization across the pharmaceutical, insurance, and healthcare services industries. Prior to MTS he was a long-short equity analyst at Windcrest Partners, a fund focusing on public and private investments, where he conducted deep-dive company research across all industries with a focus on the technology sector. Mark holds a B.S. in Engineering with a focus in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science from Harvard University.
James C. (Jim) Bohnsack serves as a strategic advisor for EIR Partners. In his current position, Jim is responsible for Corporate Solutions and Strategy for CIOX Health, a New Mountain Capital portfolio company. Prior to joining CIOX Health, Jim held leadership positions at Conifer Health Solutions, TransUnion Healthcare, Deloitte and Ernst & Young. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.
President and Chief Product Officer, Connecture
Doug has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare information technology industry. Throughout his career Doug has led successful and high performing management teams which have in turn delivered business growth and new market innovation. He has experience across the healthcare industry; with commercial and government payers, employers, and providers.
Doug was with the healthcare business of Thomson Reuters (now Truven Health Analytics which is being purchased by IBM) for 15 years through December 2011, most recently as EVP Innovation where he was responsible for product management and delivery, healthcare analytics, and new market innovation.
As CEO of Connecture from January 2012 to November 2015, Doug has worked with the Connecture board, employees and customers to lead a period of rapid growth from $30m to $95m in revenues. The business – which provides sales automation solutions for payers and health exchanges – doubled its size in the health plan market organically, expanded into private insurance exchanges, and acquired DRX, which provides market-leading shopping and enrollment solutions for Medicare beneficiaries. In November 2015 Doug transitioned into his current role where he drives product innovation across Connecture’s markets, working closely with its customer base.
Doug has an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Systems Analysis from Miami University (Ohio). He is a non-practicing Certified Public Accountant
